At Aneurin Bevan University Health Board (ABUHB), our Innovation Function is dedicated to transforming healthcare through the adoption of cutting-edge, evidence-based solutions. We focus on creating meaningful change that improves patient outcomes, enhances operational efficiency, and addresses the evolving needs of our population.
Aligned with the National Innovation Strategy and Framework for Wales, we work collaboratively with clinicians, industry partners, academia, and government to identify, trial, and implement innovative technologies, pathways, and processes. Our emphasis is on adopting CE-marked and NICE-approved solutions, ensuring that new interventions are both safe and effective.
We also act as an agent for clinicians to secure expert advice, support and resources from the wider innovation ecosystem in Wales to develop and scale innovative ideas, fostering a culture of creativity and problem-solving across the whole Health and care system in Wales.
Our vision is for ABUHB to lead the way in innovation adoption, not just locally but across Wales, by acting as a flagship hub for transformative healthcare solutions. Whether addressing challenges in surgery, digital health, or preventive care, our mission is to make a measurable impact on the lives of our patients and communities.
Through strong governance and a commitment to evidence-based and value-based healthcare, we aim to position ABUHB as a model of excellence in embracing innovation for the benefit of all.
Priorities:
  • Accelerating the adoption of transformative technologies and practices.
  • Enhancing patient outcomes while reducing system pressures.
  • Collaborating across sectors to drive innovation in healthcare.
  • Building a sustainable framework for innovation, research, and improvement.
