Women in Wales spend more years in ill-health, face barriers in accessing care, and often shoulder disproportionate caring responsibilities. A new innovation project, Ffynhonnell – An Immersive Wellspring for Women’s Health and Wellbeing, has launched in Pembrokeshire to support those most affected. Led by Vere Experiences CIC, the project brings together partners including Hywel Dda University Health Board, Pembrokeshire County Council, Public Health Wales, and community collaborators to develop new ways for women to access essential wellbeing support.

Funded by Welsh Government through Contracts for Innovation Cymru (formerly previously the SBRI Centre of Excellence), Ffynhonnell explores how immersive-digital experiences can help foster connection, resilience and improved wellbeing. The first six-month phase focuses on three strands: mental-health meditations, pain-management support, and expanded resources for unpaid carers, building on Vere’s CarerVR work.

The programme includes fortnightly immersive sessions at Vere’s Goodwick HQ, drop-ins linked to community initiatives, and training for local partners to run their own sessions in GP surgeries, leisure centres and community-health venues. Collaborations with Older Adult Mental Health, Palliative Care, Occupational Therapy and District Nursing teams will support safe, inclusive access.

Early sessions begin this winter, with further pilots in early 2026. Anyone interested in taking part or hosting sessions can contact the Pembrokeshire Care Enabled Tech Team at community.alarms@pembrokeshire.gov.uk.
